Deworming Services for Pets

Protect your pet from deadly parasites by deworming them regularly.

Parasites can worm their way into your pet’s body, creating health conditions that range from mild to life-threatening. Routinely deworming your pet eliminates the risk of parasites causing long-term damage to their internal organs and systems. Though some parasite infections are treatable, it's often a costly and painful process that can be avoided.

Which worms can the medication remove?

Pets often become infected with worms at some point during their lifetime. Some pets are born with parasites, like puppies and kittens whose mothers pass them on while nursing. While exploring the outdoors, pets are also likely to eat objects, poop, or other infected animals. Dewormers can remove common intestinal worms like:

  • Tapeworms
  • Roundworms
  • Whipworms
  • Hookworms

How is dewormer administered?

To determine if your pet is infected with worms, we take a stool sample and examine it in our laboratory. If we can see them under the microscope, deworming will be recommended for your pet. Dewormers are available in oral medications and vaccines. We’ll administer whichever dosage is most suitable for your pet. These broad-spectrum treatments can target a variety of parasites at the same time. If you’re interested in deworming your pet, please contact us at 604-427-2744.

Will the dewormer harm my pet?

One benefit of dewormers is that your pet won’t be harmed in the process. The medication is formulated to only target the worms. Typically, we recommend deworming for pets during their first 2 to 3 weeks of life. Adult pets should also be dewormed but usually receive a higher medication dosage.
